Saudi Broadcasting Authority Signs Long-Term Contract with Arabsat to Expand Global

The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has announced the signing of a long-term agreement with Arabsat, the leading satellite operator in the Arab world, to expand the global reach of Saudi TV channels. The groundbreaking partnership was formalized on the sidelines of the FOMEX exhibition, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from February 19 to 21, 2025, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

Under this agreement, Arabsat will broadcast Saudi TV channels via its satellites at the 26 degrees East and 30.5 degrees East orbital positions. Additionally, Arabsat will transmit local channels on the Arabsat 5C satellite located at 20 degrees East. This collaboration not only strengthens the partnership between entities but also marks a strategic step toward enhancing the regional and international reach of Saudi channels.

The 26 degrees East orbital position offers unique advantages, including high viewership and robust content security across Arabsat’s satellites. With a strong signal and broad coverage, this position is particularly favored by Arab households. Furthermore, it provides backup capacity on the same frequency, ensuring seamless broadcasting, even during emergencies.

In addition, the Badr 7 satellite, which transmit Saudi channels, is equipped with advanced anti-jamming technologies, guaranteeing reliable and uninterrupted broadcasting quality. Meanwhile, the Arabsat 5C satellite is an optimal choice for covering the African continent, serving as a major hotspot for Arab broadcasting in Africa.

Commenting on the agreement, Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthi, CEO of SBA, said, “We are delighted to enter into a collaboration with Arabsat, which enables us to deliver rich and diverse content to our Arab audience. Expanding into new regions enhances our ability to share Saudi culture and impactful media with audiences around the world.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Eng. Alhamedi Alanezi, President & CEO of Arabsat, “We are proud to strengthen our partnership with the Saudi Broadcasting Authority. This agreement reflects our commitment to providing top-notch satellite and digital broadcasting services. We are confident that this association will result in the transmission of exceptional content that resonates with the aspirations of our viewers worldwide.”

This initiative is part of SBA’s strategy to amplify its global presence and leverage modern technology to reach a broader audience. Arabsat’s expansive coverage and cutting-edge infrastructure will ensure Saudi channels deliver high-quality, uninterrupted programming to a wider viewership. This alliance underscores the shared commitment of both entities to advance Arab media and promote Saudi culture globally.
