This initiative focuses on facilitating communication and reducing disaster risk.

Key areas of cooperation include enabling satellite connectivity to support rapid disaster response, assisting in disaster management and preparedness, and promptly implementing urgent requirements. Additionally, a dedicated satellite network will also be allocated to ensure stakeholders can respond promptly to disasters. The MoU also entails joint efforts to provide comprehensive solutions of IoT and Earth observation services.

Eng. Alhamedi Alanezi expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, recognizing the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization as a leading authority in disaster management. He revealed plans for developing a joint mechanism to assist main and backup data centers in disaster recovery efforts. Alanezi highlighted Arabsat’s dedication to leveraging its capabilities and expertise to serve humanity and mitigate disaster risk. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), leveraging its close relationships with departments and regulatory bodies worldwide. This collaboration aims to develop a business model tailored to the Arab world for effective disaster management and resilient response.

Dr. Saleh Al-Tuwaijri praised Arabsat’s role in reducing disaster risks and its efforts in supporting partnerships, improving communication between relevant authorities, and raising awareness about the seriousness of disasters and their impacts. He highlighted the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization, which operates in 21 Arab countries under the humanitarian principles of the International Red Crescent and Red Cross Movement, in predicting and responding to natural disasters and mitigating their effects. The organization holds observer status in both the United Nations and the League of Arab States.
